About us

Established in 1995, The Living Room Theatre Company, developed from small play reading sessions in the home of Stuart and Rosemary Green. Long term friend Neville Anthony would visit each week with scripts by playwrites such as Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard. The three would be thespians embarked on raw but enthusiastic interpretations of several British theatre classics such as Pinters; The Dumb Waiter and Stoppards plays for radio. After several weeks the trio decided to record their efforts on to tape with each one taking on character roles as well as manually providing sound effects.

After several months other family members and friends became interested and boarded what was developing into a theatrical steam train. Within a short time a self penned play entitled Eh Up Apollo (1998) had the potential to become a full blown production. The Old Chapel Hall in Dukinfield was hired and the company hit the stage for the first time. Other productions followed including Brenda's Lot (1999) and The Plot Thickens (2001).

After a break in the mid noughties, the group decided to reform, maintaining their 'no committee' policy which allows all members to be involved in all aspects of the group. This allows artistic talent to flourish and keeps it fun and fresh. Since the reformation of the group there has been a much welcomed influx of new and young talent, adding an even more invigorating impact to an already forward looking theatrical movement.

The Living Room Theatre Company is now firmly established bringing its own brand of comedy and variety to the local stage with Liquorice Allsorts (2010) and the comedy triple bill The Interview / Quality Goods Are Us / Stuffed Olives (2010).
